Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali international airport and transfer to Volcanoes national park.
Upon arrival at Kigali International airport, you will be met and greeted by your designated friendly driver guide who you through the next 5-days trip plan. After the briefing, you will set off for a scenic transfer drive to Volcanoes national park where you will check in at your gorilla lodge on arrival for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking at Volcanoes national park and Iby’iwacu cultural experience.
On this day, you will have a great time meeting with the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes national park! Wake up for a breakfast at the lodge after which you will meet your guide and transfer to the Volcanoes national park headquarters for a gorilla trek briefing which begins at 7:30am. After the briefing, your transfer guide will transfer you to the trail head where you will meet the rest of your group and start the hike to hunt for the mountain gorillas. Once you locate them, you will be allowed one hour in their presence. This hike takes between 3-5 hours depending on how far the gorillas have moved to that day. The park is steep therefore being physically fit comes in handy. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. Later, head out for a visit to the Iby’iwacu cultural village where you will experience the culture and tradition of the people of Rwanda through the dances, music, poems, stories, and dress code.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking & transfer to Nyungwe forest national park.
Just like the day before, wake up to an early breakfast at the lodge, after which you will proceed to the park head quarters for a briefing on the golden monkey trek. The golden monkey trek will take you through the edges of the forest via potato fields and the trek will take you between 3-4 hours. Once you locate the golden monkeys, you will be allowed one hour in their presence watching them then you will return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and along with your driver guide start yet another scenic drive to Nyungwe forest national park where you will check in at the lodge for relaxation upon arrival.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and canopy walk
After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will pick up a packed lunch and leave for Uwinka visitor’s center for the Chimpanzee tracking experience in Nyungwe forest. Nyungwe forest is rich in botanical diversity and home to 13 species of primates including Chimpanzees, L’Hoest monkeys, and Columbus monkeys with 300 bird species. Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you will settle down for a briefing during which the ranger guide will share with the guidelines for the chimpanzee trek. After the chimpanzee trekking experience, you will settle for lunch, then after proceed on a canopy walk in the afternoon. The canopy walk is a guided tour starting from the Uwinka Visitors centre in Nyungwe Forest with a 30 minutes walk via the Igishigishi Trail. The trail begins with a steep slope, and crown it with beautiful views at the canopy. On a clear day you can see enjoy beautiful views of Lake Kivu as well. Dinner and overnight at the same lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali
After a restful night, wake up for a breakfast at the lodge after which you will check out and embark on a drive back to Kigali for your onward flight with a stopover at the Nyanza king’s palace.
