The 9 days Magical Rwanda adventure starts and ends in Kigali. This adventure will take you to three of Rwanda’s national parks namely; Akagera national park, Nyungwe forest national park and Volcanoes national park. The trip will first take you to Akagera national park where you will do afternoon game drive and morning boat cruise. During the game drive, you will have a glimpse on the Zebras, Giraffes and Impalas which are usually scattered along the game tracks. The trip will continue to Nyungwe forest national park for chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk. The last destination will be Volcanoes national park and while there, you will have fun meeting the mountain gorillas that share 99% DNA with the humans. During the gorilla trek, you will have a great time meeting the gentle giants. While on this tour, you will meet the Ibwiwachu community that will entertain you with dances and poetry.

 

Detailed itinerary: 9 Days Magical Rwanda adventure

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and greeted by an English-speaking guide. He will transfer you to the hotel for relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park

Transfer to Akagera National Park with an evening game drive Have breakfast and check out of the lodge and transfer to Akagera national park where you will check in at the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you set out for an evening game drive. The game drive will take us to the northern part of the park where most of the animals prefer to inhabit. Look out for the Zebras, Giraffes and Impalas which are usually scattered along the game tracks. Accommodation: Ruzizi tented camp (Midrange)/ Dereva hotel (Budget) Meal plan: Full board Day 3: Morning Game drive & afternoon boat cruise Akagera National Park is a Savannah Park with Elephants, Hippos, Buffaloes and Lions. After an early breakfast we take a game drive in search of these animals, the game drive will take us to the northern part of the park where most of the animals prefer to inhabit. Look out for the Zebras, Giraffes and Impalas which are usually scattered along the game tracks. Return to the lodge for lunch and you will take a boat safari on Lake Ihema.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe forest

Transfer to Nyungwe forest After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge for the transfer to Nyungwe forest national park with a beautiful scenery.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking & Canopy walk

Chimpanzee Tracking & Canopy walk After an early breakfast, we leave for Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest. The forest is rich in botanical diversity and home to 13 species of primates including Chimpanzees, L’Hoest monkeys, and Columbus monkeys with 300 bird species. Your tour guide will transfer you to the briefing area where you will meet your ranger guide and receive briefing before you start your trek. After chimp trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will start a canopy walk in the afternoon. The canopy walk is a guided tour starting from the Uwinka Visitors centre in Nyungwe Forest with a 30 minutes walk via the Igishigishi Trail. The trail begins with a steep slope, but the views atop the canopy make it worth it!

Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes national national park.

Transfer to Volcanoes national national park After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Volcanoes national park where you will check in at the lodge upon arrival. You will have lunch and proceed to visit Elen DeGeneres Museum by Diane Fossey for an optional tour. It’s a 20 minutes drive from the hiking point to Elen DeGeneres Museum by Diane Fossey

Day 7: Gorilla trekking and Cultural tour

In the morning, you will an early enjoy breakfast at the lodge, and pack for a day in the park: water, jacket, camera, and a packed lunch. you will start at the park headquarters at 7:00 am to check in and learn about the park and different gorilla families. After a briefing together with your trekking guide, it is a brief drive to the forest trail to begin the trek. While hiking to the gorillas you will enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of the rainforest. After enjoying a majestic one-hour stay with the gorillas, you hike back out of the park for lunch. After lunch, you will be driven to of Ibwiwachu community the gorilla guidance community. This afternoon you will visit the Ibwiwachu community where you will be introduced to the traditional Rwanda through traditional; dances, poems, dressing codes among others.

Day 8: Transfer to Kigali & city tour

Today is your last day on this Rwanda wildlife safari, start your day with breakfast and transfer to Kigali for a city tour. You will visit to Gisozi genocide memorial museum where you will learn more about the history of genocide memorial and how it went throughout the country. You will also visit the Belgium museum and learn more about Rwanda’s culture. You will then be transferred to the hotel for relaxation and dinner.

Day 9: Transfer back to the airport

After breakfast, you will checkout o the lodge and transfer back to the airport for your flight back home.
