Day 1: City tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and go for a city tour in Kigali where you will visit the local market and the Genocide Memorial Center. After lunch, you will understand why our country is called ‘the Land of a Thousand Hills’ as we drive northwards through the Rwandan farm heartland to the city of Ruhengeri. Ruhengeri is the gateway to Volcanoes National Park, home to nearly 500 Mountain Gorillas. Dinner is provided as you spend the night at a lodge near the park.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Tracking and transfer back to Kigali

In the morning, you will an early enjoy breakfast at the lodge, and pack for a day in the park: water, jacket, camera, and a packed lunch. We start at the park headquarters at 7:00 am to check-in and learn about the park and different gorilla families. After a briefing together with your trekking guide, it is a brief drive to the forest trail to begin the trek. While hiking to the gorillas you will enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of the rainforest. After enjoying a majestic one-hour stay with the gorillas, you hike back out of the park and the driver will meet you and transfer you back to Kigali.
Please Note: Gorilla families are constantly on the move throughout the park, and it can be a 2-8 hour round trip hike (plus the 1-hour viewing). Based on your fitness level and preference we will recommend a short, medium, or longer hike. Gorilla families are then allocated by Park Officials who will try to fit your wishes.
