Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival, you will be met and greeted by our professional driver guide who will give you an insight into this safari and answer all your urgent questions then assist you to the car for you transfer to Volcanoes national park. This will be a 2-3 hours scenic drive through the rolling hills of Rwanda. Feel free to request for short breaks for photography. On arrival at the lodge, you will check in, settle down for lunch then freshen up and enjoy the rest of the afternoon relaxing at the lodge. You can also opt to take a visit to the Ellen DeGeneres museum of Diane Fossey which you will get to learn about the conservation story of Diane Fossey, the character of the different mountain gorillas of her time, and gorilla behaviour and communication. Return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and rest ahead of the following 3-days of exciting adventure.

Day 2: 1st Behind-the-Scenes Gorilla trekking experience
Today you will have your first encounter with the mountain gorillas. Wake up for an early breakfast at the lodge and at 7:30am your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and take you to the park headquarters for a briefing on the does and don’ts of gorilla trekking. This briefing will begin at 8:00 am and after the briefing, you will be driven to the starting point of the trek from where you will penetrate this bamboo forest in search of the mountain gorillas. This hike will take about 4-5 hours round trip depending on how far they had moved the day before and when you locate the gorillas, you will be allowed 1-hour of observing them and taking photographs. After the trek, return to the lodge for your lunch and an afternoon of relaxation.

Day 3: Second Behind-the-Scenes gorilla trek & Iby’iwacu cultural tour
Today you will have your second encounter with the mountain gorillas. Just like the day before, wake up for an early breakfast at the lodge then you will be picked up by your driver guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing on the code of conduct of gorilla trekking. Today you will get to spend visit another gorilla family and get to spend again 1-hour with the mountain gorillas. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later in the afternoon head out for a visit to the Iby’iwacu cultural village also famously known as the gorilla guardian village where you will be introduced to the culture and traditions of the people of Rwanda through music, dances, dress code, and stories. Return to the lodge in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Third Behind-the-Scenes gorilla trek & transfer to the airport
Today you will have your last encounter with the mountain gorillas. After your breakfast at the lodge, your driver guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will embark on the search for this gorilla family and upon locating them, you will be allowed 1-hour with them then you will return to the lodge for lunch and refreshment. You will check out of the lodge and continue on yet another scenic drive back to Kigali for your evening onward flight.
