Detailed itinerary of 8 Days Tanzania Great Migration & Uganda Gorilla Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International airport

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and transferred to your lodge. Spend the rest of the day at relaxation, recovering from the jetlag, if you feel energized you can go for tour around Arusha.

Day 2: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After enjoying a breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge and drive Via Ngorongoro crater as you head towards Serengeti National Park – the most iconic safari destination in Tanzania as well as Africa dominated by endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the yes can see.

En- route to Serengeti you will get a chance to see the Maasai people performing their traditional dances in the Masai Village, you may also join in. You then head to the central park – Seronera Area, this area is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park featuring the Seronera River which provides a valuable water sources to this area and therefore attracts several wildlife species Serengeti is famous for.

Drive time – 7 hours OR Scheduled flight – 1 hour

Day 3 & 4: Game drive in The Serengeti

Spend these two days exploring the vast plains of Serengeti.

You will raise early and head to the park to enjoy an early morning game drive, at sunrise you may encounter animals grazing in the beautiful light of sunrise and predators may still be busy hunting before retiring to rest of the day. Sunrise on the Serengeti is something not to meet and presents and extraordinary photographic opportunities at this magical time of the day.

You have an option to return to your accommodation for a hot lunch or to opt for a packed lunch which can be enjoyed at one of the various picnic sites found in the Serengeti. After lunch, you will continue on a game drive exploring the Serengeti more and enjoying sights of animals like lions, leopards, zebras, cheetahs, gazelles, wildebeests among others.

You will spend these two days following the large herds of wildebeests as they migrate, you will have a chance to see predators following the herds.

Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe

After a leisurely breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide and transfer to Arusha and proceed to the airport to catch your flight to Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport.

Upon landing you will be welcomed by our guide and transferred to your hotel in Entebbe.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Forest  

Start your day with an early breakfast and then embark on your journey southwards to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey will offer you spectacular sights of the country side. You will have a stopover at the Uganda’s Equator Monument where you will cross to the Southern and Northern Hemispheres at the same place. After the experience, you will continue with a stopover in Mbarara for lunch before proceeding to Bwindi with bathroom stopovers and picture sessions of landscape and other attractions.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking In Bwindi Forest

Today you will have early breakfast and head to the briefing point at 7 am before you start your gorilla trek at 8 am, on arrival at the briefing place you will be welcomed and given seats until time for briefing as your driver guide registers you with the ranger on duty to be allocated a gorilla family to trek.

You will meet your guide and start your trek, hire a porter who will help push or pull you along the steep slippery paths in the forest.

Trek through the forest in search for mountain gorillas which takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending of the gorilla family you are trekking and where they spent their previous night. When you encounter the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence, watching them go on with their life in the forest, grooming each other and take pictures and videos.

Later return to the starting point and then to your lodge for an evening for rest or head to the Batwa Community for a cultural experience.

Day 8: Transfer to Entebbe for Departure

After a leisurely breakfast, you will embark on a journey back to Kampala with stopover in Mbarara for lunch and when you arrive in Kampala, you will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport to catch your departure flight back home.
