This 5 Days Uganda Primate Safari is tailored for travelers interested in observing mountain gorillas and chimpanzees in their natural habitat. This Uganda primate safari package takes you to Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzee trekking on which you see the playful and intelligent chimpanzees as well as other primates such as Pottos, red tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys and vervet monkeys among others.
Your Uganda primate safari journey continues to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – home to half of the world’s remaining population of mountain gorillas. Trek through the rainforests of Bwindi searching for a habituated gorilla family on which you will spend one hour in their presence watching them play, feed and groom each other.

Detailed Itinerary of 5 Days Uganda Primate Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly by our representative and after briefing you about the safari and what to expect you will embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park. Have a stopover in Fort Portal City for lunch and have a city tour.
Known as the Tourism City of Uganda, Fort Portal is a beautiful city stradding the foothills of Rwenzori Mountains and during the city tour you will visit the Palance of King of Toro where you will learn about the Kingdom. Continue to Kibale Forest arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and visiting the Bigodi Swamp
Wake up early for a cup of coffee and set off to Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking. A senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of chimpanzees.
In groups of 8 people you will head into the rainforest searching for a chimpanzee troop allocated to you led by an ranger guide. The trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours or more depending on the movement of the chimpanzee troop and you will be able to see other primates such as olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys among other. Spend one hour observing the chimpanzee troop, watch them play, feed and groom each other.
Retrace back to the starting point, meet your driver-guide and return to your lodge for lunch and short rest. Later, head to the Bigodi Swamp for a guided walk on which you will see several primates including black and white colobus monkeys and several bird species.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Today we head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – home to mountain gorillas and the best place to track these endangered primates in the world.
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and journey to Bwindi Forest through the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will see the rare tree climbing lions if you are lucky. Enjoy en-route lunch and arrive in the park in the evening, check in at your lodge for an evening of rest, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking Experience and Visit the Batwa Pygmies
Wake up early for breakfast, then head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking at exactly 7:00 am. A Uganda Wildlife Authority senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the gorillas. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, then head into the forest searching for mountain gorillas led by senior ranger guides.
The trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. The trek can be strenuous that is why guests are advised to be physically fit so as to conquer the hilly landscape of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. When you locate the gorilla family, you will spend one hour in their presence as you watch them play, feed and groom each other. The reward is the one hour you will spend with the gorillas, watching them feed, play and groom each other.
Return to your lodge for an afternoon of rest and in the evening you will head to the Batwa Community for culture immersion experience, here you will be entertained by the Batwa people, get a taste of their meals, visit the medicine man among others giving you a deeper insight into the life of the Batwa people, their culture and customs.

Day 5: Departure
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, check out of your lodge and start the 8 hour journey back to Kampala with en-route stop in Kayabwe for pictures at the Equator Crossing and have a chance to stand in both Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
You will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight, bringing your Uganda Primate Safari to an end.
