5 days short gorilla safari in Uganda- Bwindi by Road, Experience the beauty of Uganda on this 5-days gorilla trekking safari. This trip will take you on a scenic drive from the streets of Kampala towards the northwestern part of Uganda- Bwindi Impenetrable national park renowned for being home to almost half the total population of the endangered mountain gorillas.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to the hotel

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will go through the immigration procedures to validate your travel documents after which you will meet your designated driver guide who will welcome you to Uganda, and transfer you to your hotel for a rest and relaxation.

Depending on your time of arrival, you can choose to engage in some optional activities around Entebbe such as Mabamba shoebill tracking, visit to Entebbe botanical garden, or visit to the craft shops and local markets, among others.

Day 2: Transfer from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable national park

After a restful night, wake up for a breakfast at the hotel then check out of the hotel and embark on a scenic 9-10 hours drive to Bwindi Impenetrable national park with a stopover at a local restaurant for an enroute lunch.

Check in at your gorilla lodge on arrival for an evening of relaxation. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking

Wake up at 6:30am for a breakfast at the lodge then at 7:30am, pick up a picked lunch and some snacks and proceed to Bwindi Park headquarters. On arrival, assemble for a briefing on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking which begins at 8:00am. After the briefing, you will be divided into groups of 8 and each group assigned a gorilla family to visit.

Your driver guide will then transfer you to the trek trailhead. Here you will meet your ranger guide and the other members of your group and following the guidance of the trackers, you will begin the hike in search of the gorilla family assigned to you.

The hike will take you between 3 to 6 hours on a round trip depending on the gorilla family assigned to you and how far they had moved on that day. Once you locate the mountain gorillas, you will be allowed 1-hour in their presence observing them and taking photographs.

After, you will return to the starting point where you will receive your certificates for a successful trek then meet your driver guide and return to the lodge for an afternoon of relaxation.

Day 4: Relaxation/Optional activities

Today, you will have the day to rest and take part in some optional activities such as forest walk, waterfall hike, Batwa community experience, take a drive to Lake Mutanda where you will enjoy a traditional canoe ride experience with beautiful views of the volcanoes, golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga national park, or meet the mountain gorillas of this forest the second time. This can be done either through the normal gorilla trek like the previous day’s experience except this time you will be meeting a different gorilla family or take part in the gorilla habituation experience which allows you up to 4 hours in the presence of the mountain gorillas.

Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe International Airport

Wake up at leisure for a breakfast at the lodge then check out of the lodge and along with your driver guide embark on yet another scenic drive Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight.
