Day 1: Journey to Kibale National Park
On the first day, Basing on your location in Kampala, our guide will collect you and provide an overview of your 4 days chimpanzee Habituation and Gorilla habituation experience. The journey from Kampala to the park will require roughly 4 to 6 hours. You will traverse many cities, including Lukaya, where the scent of cooked meat will greet you. The establishment has long offered refreshments and premium roasted meats to travelers. In this town, you will get the opportunity to sample the exquisite beef. Upon arriving in Kayabwe, you will partake in the equatorial experience, where you will pose at the equator and conduct research pertaining to the northern and southern hemispheres. Lunch will be provided in Mbarara town at the Igongo Cultural Center, which features several traditional meals such as millet bread, Eshabwe, and preparations with locally crafted ghee, offering a genuine culinary experience. Post-lunch, proceed to Fort Portal Town to explore the Amabere Ganyinamwiru caves; subsequently, continue to Kibale National Park. Day 2: Chimpanzee habituation in Kibale National Park
On the second day of the four-day gorilla and chimpanzee habituation safari in Uganda, following an early breakfast at your hotel, you will transfer to the park. You will present your chimpanzee habituation permit to the park receptionist for verification, after which you will participate in a briefing session to comprehend the rules and regulations governing chimpanzee habituation in Uganda. Subsequently, you will embark on a hike through the Kibale forests, granting you access to various attractions, including bird species such as the blue turaco, Ross’s turaco, coqui francolin, long-tailed cisticola, bubbling cisticola, Miombo wren warbler, and Chubb’s cisticola, among others. You will also have the opportunity to observe primates like as the Mona monkey, vervet monkey, silver monkey, and Dent’s monkey, among other attractions. Upon arrival at the habituation troop, you will engage with them for four hours, observing various aspects of their everyday behaviors. The safari offers the opportunity to engage in a training session, thereby allowing for extended interaction with the species. Following the safari adventure, you will return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight accommodation.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Following an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will commence your travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which houses half of the world’s surviving mountain gorillas in Africa. Upon arrival at your hotel, you will eat lunch, unwind, and prepare for the following day’s activities. Alternatively, you may engage in the Batwa trail experience, which provides insight into the former forest-dwelling people as you observe their participation in various activities. Upon concluding the tour, return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight accommodation.
Day 4: Gorilla habituation and transfer to Kigali
Your safari guide will pick you up at 5:00 am to transport you to the Rushaga sector, the sole area where gorilla habituation is permitted in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon arrival at the park, you will present your gorilla habituation permit for verification. Subsequently, you will be assigned to a gorilla family for observation, accompanied by a guide dedicated to enhancing your experience through informative insights about the gorillas, as well as a ranger tasked with ensuring your safety during the safari. Following the lecture on the rules and regulations for your safari adventure, you will commence hiking through the dense trees along various pathways. Upon arriving at the gorilla family, you will spend four hours observing how the species acclimates to human presence, allowing you to witness their genuine responses during various training sessions in their natural habitat. Remember to bring your camera, as there is much to observe and document during your safari adventure. Upon concluding the safari experience, you will return to your initial site, where you will receive your gorilla habituation permit. Subsequently, you will be transported to Kigali City, with the option to be left off at a location of your preference, either in Kigali City or at Kigali International Airport.
