2 days Rwanda Silverback gorilla tour

This 2-day silverback gorilla tour will take you from the hustling and bustling city of Kigali through the rolling hills and lush vegetation far from the noisy streets to Volcanoes national park, home of the gentle yet highly endangered mountain gorillas where you will encounter these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Volcanoes national park

On arrival at Kigali International airport, you will be met by our professional driver guide who will welcome you to this land of a thousand hills, give in a short briefing about this 2-days silverback gorilla safari and then assist you into the safari vehicle before you can embark on the 2-3 hours scenic drive to Volcanoes national park with stops for photography. You will arrive at your gorilla lodge just in time for lunch. After lunch, enjoy the rest of your evening relaxing ahead of the next day’s gorilla encounter.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Kigali

Wake up for an early breakfast at the lodge and at 6:30am, your driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to Volcanoes national park headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking.

Well prepared in your proper trekking outfit (long trousers, long-sleeved shirt, rain jacket, hiking boots, garden gloves) and a packed lunch, you will assemble at the park headquarters upon arrival for the gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will be divided into groups of 8 and each group assigned a ranger guide and a gorilla family to visit. You will then board your safari vehicle and your driver guide will take you to the trek trailhead. Here you will leave with the other members of your group and ranger guide in search of the gorilla family assigned to you.

Ugenda gorilla group.

This hike will take you between 3 to 5 hours and you will be allowed 1-hour in the presence mountain gorillas observing them and taking photos. After, you will return to the starting point where you will meet your driver guide and enjoy your packed lunch then set off for yet another scenic drive back to Kigali where you will be dropped off either at your hotel or Kigali international airport where you will catch your onward flight.
