14 Days Best of Rwanda Safari (Luxury bush camping)

Day 1: Kanombe Airport-Kigali city

On your arrival at Kanombe International Airport in Kigali, meet our professional safari guide who will transfer you to Kigali city. If you arrive early we recommend you to take a city tour and if the arrival is the late drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Kigali-Nyungwe Forest National Park

Have breakfast from your hotel of residence, after transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. En-route visit the old King’s Palace in Nyanza.Lunch en-route, proceed to the Park. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking-Guided nature walk

Early morning breakfast, and after proceed to the park headquarters for briefing at 6:00am. Unlike other countries like Uganda where chimpanze tracking activity starts at 8:00am, here in Nyungwe forest National Park the activity starts at 6:00am. You will enter into the forest when its dark but you will be able to see primate species such as Columbus monkeys, forest birds and later, you will be able to see the chimpanzees when its already day time. Return to the camp for Lunch, you will set out for the guided forest walk with in the Forest. Return for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Forest walk/ canopy walk

Have breakfast, after with your packed lunch for a full day forest-guided walk within Nyungwe Forest National Park. On this long walk, you will visit the Kamiranzovu waterfalls where you will enjoy your picnic lunch. On this walk expect to see a lot of bird species and also primates like monkeys. Many of these will be seen face to face due to well established canopy walk board that enable you to view in the high trees. Return back to your camp for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full-Board.

Day 5: Kibuye on the shores of Lake Kivu-boat cruise

After breakfast, head to Kibuye with Lunch en-route and after take a boat trip either Napoleon’s (it’s shaped like his hat) Island or Amahoro (peace) Island. Return for dinner and overnight at Kibuye. Meal plan:

Day 6: Transfer-Gisenyi Town

After breakfast, transfer to Gisenyi town on the Northern shores of Lake Kivu. Lunch, go and visit the fishing villages around the town, the solid field lava from Nyiragongo Mountain that erupted in 2002 and also the hot springs. Dinner and Overnight at the camp, Meal plan: Full-Board.

Day 7: Boat ride on Lake Kivu-Ruhengeri.

Early morning breakfast, take a short boat ride on Lake Kivu and visit the different fishing villages. Return for a fascinating lunch. After lunch, transfer to Ruhengeri town. You will pass through magnificent views of the beautiful, hilly countryside which forms Rwanda’s name “a thousand hills”.

Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking

Have early morning breakfast and after transfer to the Park Headquarters of Parc National des Volcans. Meet your ranger guides for briefing on how to behave while in the forest searching for the Gorillas and also will let you know more about their behaviors’ and ways of life before you set off. After the briefing you will enter into the forest and search for these endangered rare mountain Gorilla species. This is a once a life adventure and an opportunity one should never miss in life. The activity will take half or full day, therefore you are advised to go with your packed lunch and bottled mineral water, walkable shoes, hut, sun screen, insect repellent, Cameras, rain gears among others you think are vital while in tropical rain forest. After your hour spent with the mountain gorillas, return to the camp for relaxation, dinner and overnight. Meal plan:

Day 9: Golden monkey tracking- Dian Fossey

Today have breakfast, and after experience Golden Monkey tracking in the Volcanoes National Park. These Golden Monkeys are the most endangered primates with in the forest. It is a short adventure and after return to your camp for lunch. After noon visit the Dian Fossey centre.
Return to the camp for dinner and Overnight. Meal plan: Full-Board

Day 10: Mountain Bisoke hike

Early in the morning, you will gather at the park headquarters where you will meet your hiking guides. After a short briefing from them, you will then start on your hike on Mountain Bisoke. It’s not such a big mountain and the hike to the top will only take 3 or 4 hours depending on the strength and fitness of the hikers. Upon reaching the top, you will then descend back and transfer to your camp for relaxation. Return to lodge for

dinner and Overnight. Meal plan: Full-Board.

Day 11: Volcanoes National Park

Early breakfast, depart for Kigali. On arrival in the city, take a short city tour and visit places like the Genocide Memorial sites. En-route lunch as you transfer to Akagera National Park in the East of Rwanda bordering Tanzania. En-route game drives to spot out for animal species like the Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, and so on.

Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 12: Game drive and a boat ride on Lake Ihema

Early morning breakfast, and after take game drive in the park.  Here you will spot variety of animals like Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, hyenas among others. Afternoon boat ride on Lake Ihema to encounter large herds of hippos, crocodiles and a lot of bird species along the lake shores/banks. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight. Meal plan:

Day 13: Akagera game drive-Kigali City

Early morning breakfast, and after take game drive in the park.  Here you will spot variety of animals like Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, hyenas among others. Depart for Kigali for dinner and overnight at your lodge in Kigali.

Day 14: Departure
