You will visit Volcanoes National Park, renowned for its rain forest, mountain gorillas, and golden monkeys, who are both critically endangered species, despite being formed by massive volcanoes. Rwanda features the 160-square-kilometer Volcanoes National Park in its northwest region, alongside the Virunga Mountain National Park, located approximately two hours’ drive from the international airport.

The park hosts ten habituated mountain gorilla families, including roughly 300 gorillas, together with two habituated groups of golden monkeys, each consisting of about 80 to 90 individuals. Moreover, visitors may access the national park year-round.

Comprehensive itinerary for 1 day gorilla tracking volcanoes

In the early morning, our driver-guide will get you from your hotel or Kigali Airport and transport you to Volcanoes National Park, approximately a two-hour journey. For gorilla tracking and some primate trekking (golden monkeys). Initially, you will check in at the briefing point or headquarters to understand the guidelines for tracking, after which you will proceed to follow mountain gorillas for around two to three hours in the verdant rainforest, accompanied by your packed lunch. Subsequently, you will return to the park headquarters and proceed to your hotel or be dropped off at the international airport.
